The columns of Chapel 10 were not able to support the additional weight when we tried to add a drum (that is, a cylindrical wall) under the dome. So we had to use a totally new support.
This new support is made of a ring of 16 sphenocoronae interspersed with 16 cubes. From each of the 16 sphenocoronae a slanted support, made of an octahedron and three square pyramids, rises to another ring of sphenocoronae with the same design as the ring in Chapel 10. Each of twelve cubes rests on its own square column, while the remaining four cubes have no direct support, so forming four three-column groups and four «gates».
The drum is made by vertically extending the square faces of the sphenocoronae by three rows. On the upper row an identical ring is built which supports the dome directly and which is built identically to that of Chapel 10.
Finally, we build a small ornamental tower on each of the 16 cubes of the lower ring. These towers have one level for the no-column cubes, two levels for the outer columns of each group of three, and three levels for the central columns of each group.
