Domes of the Taj Mahal to scale 1:50
There are four minor domes on the main building of the Taj Mahal. To scale 1:50 they would be similar to this one:
GEOMAG constructions: Minor dome of the Taj Mahal, view 1
Minor dome of the Taj Mahal, view 1
555 pieces: 142 balls, 345 rods, 68 squares (2.97 kg)
GEOMAG constructions: Minor dome of the Taj Mahal, view 2

The domes are octagonal, and each one rests on eight columns. The original geometry is rendered in red, the structures made of clear panels and silver rods are auxiliary. The following pictures show the supports of the dome. The free ends of the red rods are attached to the balls labelled A in the previous picture. The free ends of the silver rods in V are attached to the balls labelled B, and they will end much nearer one another, at a distance of only one rod.

Finally, four views of all five domes at once. Their relative positions are about right. We only lack now the building under them and four minarets!:

All four pictures are photomontages as I built only two minor domes.
